A Great Time Was Had By All, Plus A Chance to Win a Fine Handcrafted Box!

We had a wonderful time at the Lie-Nielsen event in Houston. Thank you to all who came out and participated in the event. Caleb with Heritage Forge brought along a bunch of tools and sold axes, hand forged dividers and sold out of holdfasts. He is trying to work up some more and they should be available at The Barn in the near future.

Caleb Nolen’s fine work

I demonstrated needle point half blind dovetails all the while making a box. I then demonstrated some double bevel marquetry and inlayed that in the top of the box. Here are the fruits of my labor during the show!

In fact we are giving that box away on our new Instagram page. Just click on the picture of the box and follow the directions to have a  chance to win a handcrafted box!

And if you don’t win the box simply sign up for a class to learn how to make the box this coming August in Maine. I will be teaching how to build this box all the while you will be learning how to handcut half blind dovetails. Essentially you will be learning how to construct a drawer, from the joinery to shaping the bottom. And I will even show you how to customize your project with some hand cut lettering. I will be teaching the 2 day workshop at Lie-Nielsen’s shop on August 22 and 23. I hope you can join me!

In the mean time we had such a demand for our Joinery 1 class coming up this Wednesday that we had to add an additional class on Tuesday, May 5. If you are interested in taking the class just click on the link and sign up soon!

Enjoyed watching you make the box. Wish I could have stayed to see the inlay done. Maybe next time. Keep sending the blog that I look forward to getting. They inspire me to go to the shop and try to duplicate what I have learned from the. Thanks,
