For those of you who have been seeing my big table here in the shop, I am nearly finished! It will be here at least a week or two in case anyone wants to take a look. It weighs close to 2,000 pounds.
The client will be bringing a semi-truck flatbed which we will set it on. And I’ll build a crate for it to ride to California in. I have about 9 gallons of epoxy resin filling the various voids and cracks. I used about one and a half pounds of Turquoise stone for the inlay of the company’s logo.
I had a local blueprint company print it for me full scale and then traced it onto the table top.
The irregular shape of the inlay prevented me from using a straight edge or guide so I did it freehand. The inlay is 45″ tall and took me most of a day just to cut the recess. I did use a hand-held laminate trimmer which I suppose can be called a handheld tool…. It does have a cord though.
There are more pictures to come, but I need to go and check on the table again to make sure it’s drying correctly without fingerprints! 🙂
Beautiful !! I hope to come up this week to see it. Thanks for keeping us up to date on this great project.
What days will you be in the shop? I know it’s Easter week. Maybe the nex week would be better?
Hi Dave,
It seems it will be here for at least two weeks. Yes with Easter this week is bit busy, Next week is probably better. Have a great week!
That is beautiful, amazing work. I’ve been fascinated with wood working for a long time; unfortunately I never had the time to really get into it.
I really enjoy watching the different projects as they progress on these emails; please keep them coming.
